Man and Dog

A blind man knows

the approach of his kin

He knows those who

pass by him without seeing

In the temple of his nose

the dog god dissolves

into obedience

the nagual of the monk,

his breath opium,

a tapestry woven of

nuanced scents

he runs inside his dreaming

the blind man hears

the rhythm of the hunt
